As-Siddiq was one of the closest companions with Rasullullah, he was the first caliphate
when the Prophet Muhammad has died, He also included in Assabiqunal Awwalun is
the first convert to Islam.
Abu Bakr As Siddiq was born in the same year with the
Prophet, which is between 571/572 M in Mecca. his full name is Abdullah
ibn Abi Quhafah, His real name is Abdul Kaaba (meaning “servant of the Kaaba”),
then converted by the Prophet became Abdullah (meaning “servant of Allah”).
Other sources say his name was Abdullah ibn Abu Quhafah
(Abu Quhafah is the nickname of his father). As-Sidiq means is (believed) that
is the title given the Prophet Muhammad, so he is better known as Abu Bakr
as-Siddiq. Historically, this Sidiq As the title given by the Prophet as Abu
Bakr was the first friend who trust and believe in Isra’ and Mi’raj Prophet
Muhammad.
Abu Bakr was a fairly successful merchant and wealthy. He
is also a very popular justices in his time as well as education and high
status in society. Abu Bakr other expertise is able to interpret dreams.
Proverbial is Abu Bakr was a nobleman and conglomerate.
When Islam first time presented, many Muslims are coming
from; the oppressed, the slaves, the marginalized, as well as young people who
want justice which Islam will give an answer about it. But Abu Bakr with the
position and influence as the community decided to join the ranks of Islam. Abu
Bakr was a magnet for Islam. Many were eventually converted to Islam with Abu
Bakr.
Although he comes from a strong group, but Abu Bakr also
experiencing an unpleasant thing, like bullying him, was forced to go back to
the time of ignorance, a trade boycott, slander and so on. However, Abu Bakr
remained strong in the faith of Islam even he also sacrificed his entire estate
to struggle of Islam. Abu Bakr also has freed many slaves in Islam were was tortured
by her employer.
Abu Bakr was one of the friends of the Prophet when
emigrated to Medina in 622 M. He was with the Prophet passed through barren
desert Arabs to emigrate to Medina. He also protects the Prophet when emigrated
and being chased by the Quraish.
When the prophet would die, Abu Bakr was appointed as
prayer leader. This is a guide for Muslims when after the death of the Prophet,
Abu Bakr became the caliph replace the Prophet to rule the Muslims and not as
substitute for the Prophet. Had been a dispute on the Shiites who did not want
to admitted Abu Bakr as the first Caliph. In their opinion the Prophet never
appointed Ali as his replacement, but Ali was willing to admitted Abu Bakr as
the caliph so the disagreement can be resolved peacefully. After the was
appointed the caliph, Abu Bakr immediately perform his duties as a the caliph. The
first is fight against Musaylama Al Kazab (the false prophet) who claimed to be
a prophet after Muhammad Apostolate.
The next Duties is to force and fight against the tribes
who are not willing to pay zakat. According the tribes, zakat is the tribute of
the Prophet Muhammad and when the Prophet died, so there is no again obligation
to pay. actually, zakat is a treasure that must be paid every Muslim, who has
reached his wealth. it is intended for Ridha of Allah is not the tribute. After
completion of a variety of insurgency and internal problems, then Abu Bakr
Islamic proselytizing to different corners the world, such as the Byzantine and
Sasanid and Iraq and Syria.
Abu Bakr As-Siddiq became the caliph within a period of 2
years. Abu Bakr died on August 634 M in Medina. He was buried beside the grave of
the prophet. Furthermore, the position of the caliph replaced by Umar.
